Enough with abortion already, already

It's called a political football people and for one I am tired of it being the centerpiece of the political debate.

Isn't it curious how abortion, gays and haircuts all come to the front during election time? All that talk is a smoke screen the real issues are the laws, loopholes, deals and policies.

Do you think the politicians want us talking, budgets, access, ethics, conflict of interest or financing or even the environment and education - nope not a peep - they would rather throw the old footballs out on the field and watch everyone get spun up.

Any religious sect that wants to seize power in the United States to codify it's dogma and force it on all the citizens of this great vast and diverse country is an enemy of the Sate, treasonous, Un-American, and ignorant of history. You want to ensure war hand over the keys of the state to any organized religion.

We have struggled for Freedom and liberty and shed our ancestors blood for it - I'm not about to tolerate or vote for any crackpot who doesn't "get" what this Country is about, or how come it is so important to preserve, or understand the centuries of history that led up to it's being. The religious right is tyranny in robes people get a clue.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Religion is a "belief system" based on myth and codified dogma as a source of law before the Magna Carta was written. You don't have to be a certain religion to be a good person. Yet there are organized religions out their right now who think killing is acceptable - if it's the other guy and his other religion. And our Pastor in Chief is a known liar yet he claims to be ohh so religious. Please stop falling for the hypocrisy. It's nice you are so religious and you are so wonderful and go to Church, but the body is the temple of the lord and it is an individual journey to enlightenment we all take with as many different roads to get there as there are individual people. It's not a one size fits all reality it never has been and never will be. We are all born into different circumstances. Do you think an entity or force who made this world and universe wouldn't have one religion, one color, one species etc. if it/he/she wanted it - get a clue.

Enough already - vote your pocket books. Religion and spirituality is a personal choice, based on a personal decision, based on personal life experiences, and a personal journey. Individual freedom and independence is what this country was founded on.

The separation of church and state is a bedrock foundation of liberty. Without it this country ceases to exist and becomes a dictatorial theocracy on the level of Iran.

Who's the best MANAGER and the least corrupt with the most integrity and the most experience. He's the guy/woman who gets the job. To the extent a candidates personal (religious)beliefs cripple his or her judgment in preserving and upholding the Constitution is when religion should enter the discussion.

Running this country is a business - period - and a nasty one at that. Anybody who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. At this rate the zealots will be pushing for fetus voting rights....Believe what you want to believe but the politicians would rather have us talking about abortion, gays, and haircuts than for us to take the time and effort to look behind the curtain at their shady business deals, policy manipulations and connections. Who THEY really are in bed with is the issue - always has been always will be.

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill

I have got to gush over this documentary/movie - it is absolutely wonderful. Animal lovers of all stripes will love this movie as well as philosophers and people who just "care" in general. In a day and age when enlightenment is in short supply (in the media, our governments, and our corporations) it is wonderful to see awareness getting well "air time" no pun intended. We have to take the next step and learn to live in harmony, take the time to understand what that means, and really deliver what I'm calling harmonic change. What does that mean? Simply out with dirty energy sources and in with "clean energy" sources. What does that have to do with Mark Bittner and Judy Irving's beautifully shot, charming, beautifully scored, heart wrenching film? Everything.

Each individual has with each moment in their life the opportunity to seek understanding, gain wisdom and exercise enlightenment in their very actions, and choices that present themselves day in and day out. How do we get Exxon/Mobil to abandon oil and go to wind power? Through an individual and collective dialog that is the result of individual choices. First action is to follow your heart. Nobody wants to pay for oil. I hate pulling into gas stations knowing I could be driving an electric car back and forth to work. If we act as individuals in doing all we can the symphony and harmony of positive change can and will create the ground swell. It's already happening.

Whatever walk of life you are in you can and do make a difference. All of my light bulbs have been changed to high efficiency bulbs. I have a lawn and use only organics on it, and it is a green as my neighbors chem lawn. Talk about it. My neighbor is slowly going organic. How about that? Follow your passion and badger your politicians don't let up. The lobbyist are entrenched in the status quo and they won't change until they run out of product to sell or we stop buying.

Mark and Judy's work clearly delivers one of many messages about how horrifically we treat god's creations. We are stewards of this one and only Earth of ours. How we live in it, how take care of it's creations, how we honor existence will determine our own survival in a very real and spiritually significant sense. We do horrible things to animals - when we start to stop that maybe we will start to stop doing horrible things to ourselves and each other, and the planet that sustains our very existence. This is the challenge this is the turn we must take. As Edgar Cayce once said,"before we can have peace in the world, before we can have peace in our homes, first we must have peace in ourselves." We are all a part of nature and we do not live or can survive a part from nature. What we put into the air we breath, what we put into the land and sea finds it's way back into our bodies. There is a better way and don't worry status quo it will turn a much more sustainable, long term profit larger than your wildest dreams.

Take the time to read Mark's Book and see Judy's film with a loved one!

CNN - Propagand Machine for Status Quo

Dear CNN,
You lost a lot of credibility giving industry front man Glenn Beck and his "Climate of Fear" and lobbyists unfettered air time on the "most trusted name in news" channel. Look pollution is bad it's not a fear campaign it's a fact campaign. Polluted air, water and land pollute our food chain, contaminate our health and degrade and destroy our environment. From overfishing to melting ice caps we are screwing up and need to move away from dirty energy sources to clean ones. We get one planet and we can't survive without it. Even if the science wasn't rock solid it doesn't make any sense to pollute and destroy the very environment and globe that sustains us. Pathetic that's what CNN is for letting industry related representatives with a severe conflict of interest plug their spin on the issue in order to maintain their profit margins and antiquated business models. The industrial revolution and oil in particular has led us into rivers of soot and global war. There is a better way. Letting the status quo distort the truth for the top ten on their board of directors to stay enormously rich is not news reporting - it's propaganda and treasonous to our system of representative government. Your boys at the top making those decisions to air that bunk are just as likely to get cancer from our poisoned air, water and food as the next guy - they better wise up.

Take Action!

Wal-Mart is Un-American - an open letter!

Dear Wal-Mart,
You are and continue to be everything that is wrong with America. You have a bunker mentality because the things you do are wrong. How can you not support Homeland Security when America is where you are making your enormous wealth? How can you take pleasure in homogenizing our culture and driving small businesses off of main street and ruining so many families lives, all for your own personal wealth? Does it give you joy to ruin peoples lives? Are you proud when you drive the Mom and Pops out of business - do you rejoice in your board room annihilating your competitor? What would Jesus do indeed? Do you get some sort of sick satisfaction that you pay demeaningly low wages, and don't provide affordable health care coverage? Does it make you proud Americans soaking off our tax dollars instead of taking care of the employees who run your operation?

The slavish attitude and archaic business model you have chosen has turned a handsome profit for the very few that sit on the top as you crush your competitors, and destroy the environment, and do everything in your power to increase the take home pay of the ten people at the top.

Whether you know it or not this is completely un-American. Were the men who sacrificed their lives in World War II - un-American - no they weren't - why? Because they gave of themselves, they did the right thing, they SERVED their country and your business model and behavior is the complete opposite (you serve yourself) of what it means to be an American. Americans care for each other. We know, respect and love our neighbors. We come through in time of need for each other with money and effort.

WalMart just takes, takes, takes - it never shares even modestly and it skirts the law and fights the will of the people and it's employees every chance it gets. At the end of the day you turn your back on America it's towns, and it's cities, it's environment, it's workers, and it's national security and hoard your money to buy priceless heirlooms to build monuments to yourself.

That's as Un-American as you can get. Whoever told you this was the way to act or however you came up with this terroristic attitude to sacrifice everything and everyone in the name of a faceless, corrupt corporation and personal wealth was wrong. To screw everybody and everything for your own personal gain isn't the idea that our men and women died for in World War II and this isn't the idea and behavior they are dying for in Iraq.

A Message To The Law Makers and President and Presidential Canidates

My Fellow Americans,
We need to Wake Up America - our business as usual approach is destroying the very thing that sustains us - profit margin and markets are important but they come way down on the priority list. The health of the planet, the health of our ecosystem, the health of our food population, the health of our rivers and streams, the health of our air all lead up to the health of our bodies and our lives. The time to change is now. Dirty energy sources must be phased out and eliminated over the next decade. The profiteers must be made to understand the health of the planet comes first, the health of each other comes first, the health of our food system comes first. Then we can begin to talk about the markets and profit margins. Anything less than that is unaware, selfish and suicidal.

I'm writing today to encourage you to support doubling our national fuel economy standard. This step would greatly help us break free of our dependence on oil. It's not just the environment but it's about preventing war for oil resources - we don't need the oil we can walk away from the middle east. As we spend our time, and effort on clean energy sources we will discover new opportunities and expand the marketplace in a healthy forthright manner. The debate is over it's time to act.

Sincerely,

The United States of America

Facts

Here's the Lee Iacocca rave-out bouncing around the Web right now:

"Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course.' Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I'll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!" ...
