China is set to add as many as 220 million new vehicles between now and 2020. But by greening its transportation sector through the use of alternatively fueled vehicles, high-speed rail, and other options, the country can create an average of 2 million jobs annually between 2011 and 2020, according to a forthcoming Worldwatch report. Urban rail expansion in Beijing alone could bring 420,000 green jobs annually over the coming decade.
