Robbert Newman's History of Oil

I originally got this link from Lonnie at "I Just Have To Say" check his blog out it has outstanding public policy commentary. I have watched this video feed three times and have posted it at other sites. It deserves to be played on National Television during prime time three times a week for the next decade. It is 45 minutes long so get a comfy pillow and a beverage of your choice and be prepared to be very entertained. Robert Newman is a wonderful talent!

Enjoy,

Stem Cells Are Murder??!!??

One of the problems with the religious right is they think that man can alter god’s will - even if you accept the fact that life begins at conception - the exact moment the sperm hits the egg - (every sperm is sacred) it still doesn’t justify not helping people when the opportunity to help them comes along. Accepting the religious wrongs position you still have various degrees of development and then the full bloom of human consciousness bringing forth the channel for creativity embodied in the human being. However, following the religious wrongs logic - the end result of god’s miracle is to be damned. The second tier of the argument in support of the veto is the “not with my tax dollars” rhetoric. While I support the notion of fewer taxes and a huge roll back on the payroll tax I can not accept this “excuse” for inhumanity in the face of major tax breaks for the uber wealthy and super rich and the tax breaks and subsidies for the uber profitable oil industry. The hypocrisy is so enormous we don’t even talk about it!

More to the issue as they have framed it how can the full bloom of god’s creation be treated with more disdain than then the moment the sperm hits the egg. Me thinks they got it backwards. The end result of consciousness and creativity is the god force making itself known in our three dimensional reality and in our collective conscious and subconscious reality. The miracle is life, and is this planet we live on and focusing only on conception and using that to deny help to all those around us is ignoring the reason we are here in the first place.

It’s not to give birth or gain power but to help one another. Until the powers that be get that figured out we are doomed to blunder and stumble and waste the dawn. Mankind can only detract from god’s creation personified and god’s platform the earth and its atmosphere by lusting for power, greed and self agrandizing. The intention behind the act is the divining force everything else is just an excuse to cover up a self serving agenda of power, control and greed.

Garden State

It's been a while since I saw this movie but I remember being so struck by it that I watched it again a few more times in the same week and I usually don't do that at least not right away. Natile Portman’s role is not to be underrated or tossed off as anything other than brilliant. We have a real actress here with serious acting chops and she's (what) still in her twenties. I can not wait to see how her career unfolds further and I think we have all been served notice. Zach Braff's script is engaging if modest and I think I like that it is so uncluttered. He's trying to get at several things including over medication by both prescription and street drugs. I can't and won't attempt to sum up his movie in a pithy sentence or two but there is a way to live life pursuing worthy goals with a purpose. Pursuing opportunities great and small it is the little things that fuel our fire and rekindle our spirit like an old locket or a simple hug. Quirkiness for quirkiness sake no I wouldn't accept that as a life style but quirky and eccentric on the outside can be a sign post that something genuine is driving heartfelt intention. Intention often gets confused or surpressed with a prepackaged idea or goal (being a star in Hollywood gives you fulfillment – maybe not) but intention sheds light on purpose and gives real meaning to every waking day – even after the kids have grown and gone. We are confronted with the abyss as a blank and unrealized future but each of us with the opportunity to affect our circle, family, friends, neighborhood and community. How we fill the abyss with meaning, purpose or idleness and distraction gives way to feeling fulfilled or horribly stymied and bored. Garden State is a beautiful movie – I really loved it and I hope its stars stay true to their visions and don’t get caught up in the emptiness of fame for fames sake. If they don’t we can look forward to a wonderful creativity that gives us all a chance to be reminded that the world is amazing and our lives in it are just the same. What I really loved about this movie is that nothing exploded and there were no guns needed to carry the fun, thoughtful, entertaining script. Now go give your mother a hug!

Ted Stevens Must Go

Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska shows his utter incompetence and disregard for his duties in an abysmal attempt to frame the issue of Net Neutrality. Holly smokes that Ted Stevens quote is abysmal. How horrible! It's a staffer translation of lobbyist spin completely misunderstood and garbled by a senile old man. Just tell me how to vote Stevens has also put his thumb down on the Windmill Farms cleared by the coast guard off New England. Why an Alaskan republican is so against Windmills a whole continent away from his home State can only support the theory that the goal of US energy policy is NOT to cut into oil company profits.

Ted Stevens is not doing his due diligence and is derelict in his duties to the Nation and the tax payers. Read his abysmal quote on Net Neutrality and be horrified!

Thank you Daniel Rubin at Blinq for the red alert and link back to the original article.
